Before the premiere of the MTV - WWE joint venture of "Tough Enough," the two joined forces and tested the waters on national live television via Total Request Live with Carson Daly. They entitled the event "Wanna Be A WWF Superstar" and WWE Superstar Mick Foley was on hand for the event. Brimstone and Rexx Rockwell were picked from a few hundred independent wrestlers, and made it through to the finals. Although neither won the contest, Brimstone's "shoot" piece was featured as part of the WWF Superstars Sunday morning television show on the USA Network. To this day fans still recognize him from TRL.
